This great storage idea is from photographer Mandy Busby. Using pegboard for extra storage and display in a kid’s room can open up more floor space for little ones to play, and will remain useful as the kids grow and their needs change.

Franklins mural

We are excited to share with our Forklift Fans that one of our favorite Hyattsville hangouts, Franklin’s Restaurant and Brewery, is redecorating and donating their restaurant fixtures and furniture to us! We currently have benches from the booths for sale. They are priced at $125 each. They measure 28″ long, 41.5″ tall and 22″ deep. They would be great along a dining room wall, in an entry way, or for making a breakfast nook.

Just arrived! New Line of Recycled Paints

Amazon paint

Greetings, Forklift Fans!

We are thrilled to share a new product that we have just put on our shelves in the past few days – recycled paint from Amazon Environmental, Inc.! Amazon Select latex paints are manufactured from quality surplus paint that has been rescued from the waste-stream. These paints meet three of the goals of Community Forklift:  keeping reusable material out of landfills, promoting environmentally-friendly building materials, and making home repairs more affordable to our community members. Amazon Select paints meet strict specifications for color, gloss, viscosity and coverage and are priced well below “virgin” paint from national brands.

We are carrying 16 different colors and primer of Amazon Select. All colors are available in one-gallon containers, with prices starting at $16, and several of the most popular colors are available in five-gallon containers, with prices starting at $56.75. (Primer starts at $56.00 for a five-gallon container.) All colors come in a flat finish and Whipped White and Ivory White come in both flat and eggshell.

This Just In: Many Pallets of Carpet Tile!

2014 - 09 - 18 new-carpet-tiles compressed

Greetings Forklift Fans!

We’ve just received a lot of new carpet tiles in a variety of colors and styles. They are very nice, commercial quality tiles.  Most of the tiles are 24″ x 24″ and are $3 per tile, and there are also some 18″ x 18″ tiles for just $1.69 each. They are great for basements, playrooms, offices, or high traffic areas. Buy some extra tiles so if something gets stained, you can just swap it out for a new piece (Or does that only happen at our houses?)

Hope to see you at the warehouse soon!

************

The last time we received pallets of carpet tile, Forklift Fan Kinch C. snapped up a bunch for her Florida room.  See below – don’t they look great?

Just in! 4’x8′ sheets of Maple Veneer MDF, just $16 each

ply1 compressed

Hello Forklift Fans! We’ve just received 3 pallets of very nice sheets of maple veneer MDF, great for building cabinets and furniture!

ply2 compressed

These are top grade 4’x8′ sheets, with a real wood veneer face attached to both sides of the MDF core.  An MDF core provides a flat, flawless surface and it’s the most stable (resists warping the best).

This type of maple veneer MDF usually retails from $45-$77 a sheet.  Our sheets were lightly used (in a maze at the National Building Museum!), so we are offering them for just $16 each.

Here’s what you need to know:

If you are interested, you need to come look at the wood yourself!

Nice sheets of plywood and MDF tend to go very quickly here – so you can call us, but our Reuse Associates may not know what we have left in stock (it’s like calling Goodwill during a half-price sale to ask how many shirts they have).

We’re not able to do holds over the phone, and we cannot take your credit card over the phone.

So you’ve got to come visit right away if you’re interested!

After you buy them, you have a week to pick them up.

We offer a free storage service – so after you purchase bulky items, you have a week to find a truck, and to round up friends to help you load.

When you are ready to take them home, you must arrive at least 30 minutes before closing time so you have enough time to load.  We’re open Saturdays and Sundays from 9-6, Mondays-Fridays from 10-6 (and an hour later on Wednesdays, from 10-7pm).

Just arrived: sturdy bamboo poles, from the Folklife Festival!

The bamboo was used to construct Folklife Festival displays like this Chinese gate

The bamboo was used to build festival displays like this Chinese gate

Hi Forklift Fans –

Because we pick up donations around the Washington DC area, we sometimes receive unusual items from government agencies and nonprofits, and really cool pieces of local history.

compressed ladder vertical

These little ladders would be great for displaying scarfs, jewelry, or other treasures!

The Smithsonian’s Folklife Festival is a Washington summertime tradition, so we were thrilled when they offered us the beautiful bamboo poles that were used in building some of this year’s exhibits.  What creative things could you do with them?

We’ve got skinnier bamboo poles for $0.50 a linear foot.  These are a little less than 2 inches in diameter, and they come in 2-, 4-, and 10-foot lengths.

We also have thicker bamboo poles for $1 a linear foot.  These range from 2 – 4 inches in diameter, and they come in 2-, 3.5-, and 10-foot lengths.

There are also some ladders made from the bamboo.  These cost $5 a linear foot.

Wouldn’t it be cool to have a little piece of the Folklife Festival in your home?  They’re going fast, so come in soon for the best selection!
