Hi Forklift Fans –

Because we pick up donations around the Washington DC area, we sometimes receive unusual items from government agencies and nonprofits, and really cool pieces of local history.

These little ladders would be great for displaying scarfs, jewelry, or other treasures!

The Smithsonian’s Folklife Festival is a Washington summertime tradition, so we were thrilled when they offered us the beautiful bamboo poles that were used in building some of this year’s exhibits.  What creative things could you do with them?

We’ve got skinnier bamboo poles for $0.50 a linear foot.  These are a little less than 2 inches in diameter, and they come in 2-, 4-, and 10-foot lengths.

We also have thicker bamboo poles for $1 a linear foot.  These range from 2 – 4 inches in diameter, and they come in 2-, 3.5-, and 10-foot lengths.

There are also some ladders made from the bamboo.  These cost $5 a linear foot.

Wouldn’t it be cool to have a little piece of the Folklife Festival in your home?  They’re going fast, so come in soon for the best selection!

Just arrived: milkcrates! So handy to have around…

Hi Forklift Fans –

A generous donor recently dropped off dozens of milk crates.  Our warehouse already has enough for our own use, so we are offering these for $5 each.   Great for organizing the garage, tool shed, kids room, sports equipment, etc.  We have a limited supply in assorted colors.  Come in soon for the best selection!

Just arrived: lots of fridges, stoves, & beautiful wood furniture – all thanks to you!

Hi Forklift Fans –

Sometimes I’ll meet someone new, and when I tell them I work at Community Forklift, they’ll lean in and whisper, “Oh, I love that place!  But I don’t want to tell anyone else because then all the good stuff will be snatched up too quickly, and there won’t be anything for me.”

armoireI usually laugh and tell them not to worry.  It’s true that items go out the door more quickly as more people find out about our reuse center… but on the other hand, as word spreads, we get more donations too!!!   This means more jobs created, fewer materials going to the landfill, less pollution from incinerators, more free supplies given to nonprofits and neighbors in need – and more good stuff here in the warehouse for YOU!

Thanks to all of you wonderful blabbermouths, our donations crew stays very busy.  Every day, we’re constantly getting calls from new donors – and just this week, we got some amazing new donations from large property managers!

One donor was an extended-stay hotel.  They are renovating all of their suites, and offered us some beautiful furniture.  Over the next few days, our warehouse team will be setting out an assortment of  gently-used, traditional -style furniture in good to very good condition.  We’ll have end tables and nightstands from $38, large dressers with mirrors for $125, coffee tables from $38, and large TV armoires $125.  If you’re interested, come in soon – and remember, all of our furniture is 20% off this month!

Another donor was a property manager of an apartment building.  They are renovating all of their units, and sent us some nice stoves and fridges.  We’ve got 14 standard-size refrigerators, tested and ready for sale.  They vary in brand, and range from $125-$225.  We also have 12 standard-size Whirlpool electric stoves.  They have been tested and are $165 each.  (And remember:  we do offer a 2-week return policy on appliances.  If you get one home and something goes wrong within 14 calendar days, just bring it back with your receipt for a refund).

Thanks again, everyone!  YOU made this happen!!!
